Saguache’s New Bike Shop Keeps ’em Spinning

If your Fourth of July weekend plans include taking a spin on your bike, then be sure to stop into Saguache’s new bike shop and pick up any last minute gear and tune-up needs you may have before hitting the trails.
Following suit on a growing downtown business district, welcome the new kid on the block: Todd Cramblett owner of Saguache Bicycle Service, along his wife Dana and their dog Knight who’s likely to be seen hanging around the shop.
However, it is helpful to be an old-schooler or a newbie up for a different kind of adventure, because just getting to the shop could be your first test. The shop’s entry is located off the alley of what – in a more urban setting – might be called scanty, if not for the fact that it is downtown Saguache and thankfully everything is still a bit understated.
This is no high-end, painted pretty spin shop. Nope, you won’t find that at Saguache Bicycle Service. But what you will find is an owner who knows his bike – and skateboard – stuff, as well as where all the good trails are in the San Luis Valley and beyond.
According to the shop’s Facebook Page, the business is a “full service bike and skateboard shop in Saguache that carries Transition, Foes, GT, Fairdale and Haro.” You can also catch Todd and his crew by phone at (719) 221-9816, their hours are listed as 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
From a curbside perspective, Saguache Bicycle Service is located behind the Blue Earth Mercantile and Thrift Store at 406 4th Street, which is worth a spin through to see what this week’s selection offers. The new bike shop compliments the recent “Rebirth of Downtown Saguache,” which has demonstrated steady, responsible development over the last several years.
