Foods Coalition Director Next Chamber Speaker
Next Tuesday, July 11 the popular Saguache Chamber Speaker Program continues with Liza Marron, Executive Director, SLV Local Foods Coalition.
Marron is the founding director of the San Luis Valley Local Foods Coalition, and is a well-known Saguache resident and activist, having been involved with many community organizations and activities over the years. The SLV Local Foods Coalition was formally established in 2011 with the following mission statement, “Foster an equitable local food system that restores the health of the people, community, economy and ecosystem.”
One of the mottos found on their website at www.slvlocalfoods.org says “Real Foods, Local Farms, Eat SLV”. Come and learn more about this wonderful non-profit and the many activities and projects that are underway. The SLV Local Foods Coalition is bringing opportunities to all SLV residents through its emphasis on local growers, healthy and organic foods, and distribution of healthy food to those in need.
The Speaker Program is at 6 p.m. in the Saguache County Road & Bridge Community Room at 305 3rd. St. in Saguache, The Chamber monthly meetings (as always) are open to the public.
